Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIG)
IVIG delivers concentrated antibody proteins directly into the bloodstream, strengthening the immune system or modulating immune response depending on the condition being treated. IVIG is commonly administered in an outpatient infusion setting — or at home for qualifying patients — allowing individuals to maintain their routines while receiving therapy on a regular schedule.
We provide comprehensive IVIG support for patients living with conditions like primary immunodeficiency (PI/PIDD), chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN), myasthenia gravis, immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), Guillain-Barré syndrome, and other antibody deficiency disorders.
Our care team has experience administering the full range of widely prescribed IVIG and SCIG formulations. For eligible patients, we also offer home IVIG infusions on a case-by-case basis — bringing the same standard of clinical care into a more familiar setting when appropriate. How long does IVIG infusion take?
IVIG infusion times vary depending on your prescribed dose, the specific product being used, and how well you tolerate the infusion. Most patients can expect their session to last anywhere from 2 to 6 hours. First infusions are typically run more slowly to monitor for reactions, and your rate may be increased over subsequent visits as your tolerance is established. Your care team will give you a personalized estimate before your first appointment.
How often will I need to receive IVIG?
Infusion frequency depends on your diagnosis and how your body processes immunoglobulin. Most patients receive IVIG every 3 to 4 weeks, though some conditions may call for more frequent dosing. Your prescribing physician will determine your schedule based on your lab results, symptom management, and clinical response over time. Infusion Solutions coordinates directly with your physician to keep your schedule consistent and your authorizations up to date.
How long does it take to start treatment with Infusion Solutions?
Once we receive your referral and insurance information, our team moves quickly. For most patients, we’re able to complete the intake process, verify benefits, and submit prior authorization as soon as we have documentation from your doctors office. Approval timelines vary by insurance plan, but our team actively follows up and advocates on your behalf to minimize delays. If you’re transferring from another provider with active authorization, the transition is often faster. We’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
Can I travel or maintain my normal routine while on IVIG therapy?
Yes. Most patients on regular IVIG therapy are able to work, travel, and maintain an active daily life between infusions. Because infusions are scheduled in advance and typically take place every few weeks, many patients plan around them with minimal disruption. If you travel frequently, we can help coordinate care across locations or discuss whether a subcutaneous IG (SCIG) option, which can be self-administered at home, might be appropriate for your situation. Your care team will work with you to build a schedule that fits your life.
How much does IVIG cost?
Infusion Solutions partners with all IVIG manufacturers for their co-pay assistance programs, as well as disease state foundation funds. Many patients qualify for zero dollars out of pocket.

IV access requires a high level of skill and consistency. Our nursing team includes IV access specialists with dedicated experience in central line care, as well as PIV placement. If you’ve had concerns about inconsistent care, missed visits, or poor technique, we’d welcome a conversation about what a higher standard of care looks like.
