Enteral Nutrition
Enteral nutrition — commonly known as tube feeding — delivers a complete, balanced diet directly to the stomach or intestine when eating by mouth isn’t safe or possible.
At Infusion Solutions, we specialize in enteral support for patients managing conditions like ALS, stroke-related dysphagia, head and neck cancer, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury, and cancer-related malnutrition. When swallowing is a barrier, we make sure nutrition never is.
How long does enteral feeding take?
Enteral feeding schedules vary based on your nutritional needs and tolerance. Feedings can be administered continuously over 16–24 hours, in cycles overnight, or in bolus sessions several times throughout the day. Your care team will determine the schedule that works best for you.
How long will I need enteral nutrition?
The duration depends on your underlying condition. Some patients use enteral nutrition short-term while recovering from illness or surgery, while others may require it long-term to maintain adequate nutrition.
Can I still eat while receiving enteral nutrition?
In many cases, yes. If your digestive tract is functioning and your condition allows it, you may be able to eat by mouth alongside your tube feedings. Your doctor or a specialist on our enteral nutrition team can advise whether oral intake is appropriate for you.
How soon will I receive my supplies and formula?
Our goal is to get your enteral nutrition supplies and formula to you as quickly as possible. In most cases, delivery occurs within 24–48 hours of receiving a prescription from your provider, though timing may vary if prior authorization is required.
